How much difference can a breeze make on a 22LR? A.K.A. Watch your wind calls….

What difference a little breeze can make with 22LR rifle! Rather than let ammunition cover up potential weak areas, you have choice but to learn how to read wind and how to hold for it. That's why rimfire trainer rifles are such a great tool.
During testing on a custom rimfire build we took a few videos which show perfectly how important it is to read wind when holding in breezy conditions.

How in tune is your barrel? New tuners & brake combinations from MANAEL Australia

We love new products!! This nifty new Barrel Tuner launched last week at the Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown Precision Rifle Series Australia match.

They were a tad more popular than we expected and we ran out of stock…oops! But MANAEL Australia is busily making more for us as we speak and delivery of all models begins within 1-2 weeks. How good is local manufacture?

The MANAEL Barrel Tuner is designed to provide maximum potential out of your catridge by managing barrel harmonics & vibration. It’s a simple DIY install so you can betuning your rifle within minutes (slide the MANAEL Barrel Tuner onto your barrel, screw on your muzzle brake and you can begin). It works with most muzzle brakes or thread protectors.

Internal surfaces are smooth and snag free, no screws to cause scratches.

We’ve got instructions on how easy it is to install and tune your barrel here.

Matching self-timing muzzle brake

MANAEL have released this sexy self-timing brake too, because apparently gunsmiths aren’t needed anymore ūüėČ

Designed for precision rifle competition by Australian firearms manufacturers MANAEL (and fellow sponsors of Precision Rifle Series Australia).

Sleek and sexy lines create a powerful silhouette and rear-facing side ports are designed to drop felt recoil to a minimum and aid target reaquisition.

It’s super easy to install, so you can be competition-ready within minutes.

Screw the brake on your barrel, lock it in using the jam nut. It won’t go anywhere with the supplied lock nut tightening tool to secure it in place – plus the lock nut tool doubles as a bottle opener!

For more info, including how to install, check it out here.

That’s a wrap! 2021 Precision Rifle Series Australia – Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown

What a match!!!!

The PRS community sunk its teeth into the first (and only) Precision Rifle Series Australia match for 2021, The Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown. We are so grateful to have had this overdue opportunity to get out and shoot. And so proud to partner with PRS Australia to make this match happen.

The Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown was hosted April 9-11 at our home range SSAA Precision Shooting Club at Monarto.  Its the largest precision and practical club in Australia. And super excitingly, the Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown was the largest PRS match held in Australia to date!

Stages were designed by Match Director and all around top bloke Travie Harris with some fun challenges for new and experienced shooters.

We may be biased, but the Ignition Custom Monarto¬†Meltdown is one of the best opportunities on the PRS Calender to come alongside some of the country’s top shooters and experience precision shooting at its best. Its friendly, fun and everyone is happy to share gear, tips and support so every shooter can achieve their potential.

The Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown marked the end to a long shooting drought for many in 2020 (not a single PRS Match, thanks Covid!). In response, everyone brought their A-Game (well, at least a C-game….some of us didn’t get to practice much last year, alright!!!????).

Many shooters were hungry to the range, smash steel and spend time with mates. But the big prize table was also an incentive and featured including gear, services and merchandice from Aussie firearm manufacturers MANAEL & Australia’s leading PRS gunsmiths Ignition Custom Engineering.

MANAEL also introduced its newest product the MANAEL Self Timing Muzzle Brake, designed exclusively for long range precision and heavily tested in live fire matches to prove it performs as flawlessly as it claims!

Monarto has consistent weather. Which is best described as “inconsistent”. The Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown was no exception.

Friday was hot, dry and dusty. Saturday was a confusing combination of dusty and gusty winds, with sporadic icy showers that had us all reaching for our Ignition Custom Engineering Hoodies! The gusty winds continued and strengthened through Sunday but at least it didn’t rain.

Saturday Silliness

After the first day of competition, everyone retires to the clubroom for a hearty meal and general the shenanigans you can expect from Ignition Custom and the PRS crew. Apart from the shooting and on-stage banter, this is one of our favorite times of the weekend.

Community, amirite?

Final Results Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown – Precision Rifle SEries Australia 2021

Butters fought with a fierce determination to claim top position at the 2021 Ignition Custom Monarto Meltdown.

Competition was fierce and very close

The determination was palpitable between top performing shooters, with Butters of Northern Territory Practical Rifle, Lukas M and Ash P sparring over the top position.

Butters cinched it with a stellar performance. But the win wasn’t made easy with Lukas M closing in behind.

When the final points landed, Lukas claimed second position.

Third place went to Ash P, who is consistent and clean in his performance, and certainly kept both Lukas and Butters looking over their shoulder!

Great performance from all competitors. Congrats also to the first place getters in the Marksman, Semi-Pro and Production categories.

What a weekend! We are signing off now to sleep for maybe a week. Then start planning to do it all over again in 2022.

Converting a WFA1 to take the Forward Assist Bolt Action Kit (FABA)

MANAEL’s Forward Assist Bolt Action Kits (FABA) kits have provided a popular solution for those wanting extra grip points on the new WFA1-L rifle from Warwick Firearms Australia.¬†

But what about the older WFA1 model? Straight out of the box, the MANAEL FABA kits are not compatible with the older WFA1.

But Ignition Custom Engineering can quickly modify the upper recievers to fit the FABA kit. Click here to book in today.

It requires milling the pic rails on the sides and bottom to create a flush surface. We then cut in M-lok slots. And finally we finish it in Cerakote to match the original factory finish.

Version 2 FABA foreend is more streamlined and features a hex-grip texture. The Warwick WFA1 foreend has been modified to suit.

The whole proces can be done as a contactless service: book in through the website or over the phone, post your upper reciever only to us and when its all done, we can ship it back.

Version 1 FABA on a modified WFA1 Rifle by Ignition Custom Engineering

The FABA kit creates an easy forward operation of the bolt action, with an ergonomic foregrip and grip texture. It does not change the action type of the rifle (it is a bolt action). The FABA is fabricated from billet aluminium and stainless and is 100% Australian Made by MANAEL.

The FABA (Forward Assist Bolt Action) Kit is available Ignition Custom Engineering (click here to view online).
